Marie Lawson Fiala
Reading from her book
Letters from a Distant Shore

Books Inc. (3515 California Street - SF)

When Marie Lawson Fiala's young teenage son was struck down by a cerebral hemorrhage, her family's life changed forever.  Her memoir of that experience,  Letters from a Distant Shore, is a poignant, lyrical, and above all honest story of family, faith, and healing.   Her writing has been likened to Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking and Anne LaMott's work in the beauty of its prose, its uplifting quality, and its contemporary relevance to any reader who has encountered illness, death or other unexpected turn in life's fortunes.

Check out her website at  www.marielawsonfiala.com
