MBIN ART SHOW FUNDRAISER
April 26, 2008

The event began with Starbucks coffee and homemade food, including samosas, Edith’s apricot bread and Alma’s famous lumpia! Homemade lemonade was also served, lovingly made by our participants using locally grown Meyer lemons from Cristina’s tree. Very refreshing on such a sunny, warm day…so refreshing that our volunteers brought pitchers out to the soccer field to sell. Our guests enjoyed soothing sounds of Ivan’s guitar on the deck while enjoying the array of potted plants for sale from our Master Gardeners, Karen Halvorsen and Patricia Compton.

At 1:00pm, Music Medicine Love, a talented duo, offered their heartfelt songs while guests viewed our art collection. If you would like to check out their sounds, their website is musicmedicinelove.com. The music continued with Jazz Roots, another talented duo, who brought their sophisticated and warm sounds, transforming our Center into a Jazz club! For those who loved their music and would like to purchase their CD, contact us and we will hook you up. And, Shay surprised us by singing a beautiful Brazilian tune.

The day concluded with a raffle drawing, mc’d by Midge, with Patricia presenting the prizes to the winners. Participants were honored to draw the winning tickets and everyone was pleasantly surprised when Sage, Midge’s dog won a gift certificate at the bakery. We know Sage will enjoy this prize!

Special thank yous are extended to all who attended and the volunteers listed below, who contribute their time, energy and enthusiasm to support us. Without our volunteers, our programs would not be as successful or as fun! We look forward to seeing everyone next year at our second annual Art Show Fundraiser.

Todd Barbee for re-designing our website and designing marketing materials to advertise the Art Show & Giants Skybox raffles.

Cristina Chanteloup & Charlotte Caldwell for assistance on many levels, including acquiring raffle prizes, art exhibit donations, preparing for and working at the show, and sharing enthusiasm about our program.

Carolyn Jones for donating her time to help prepare for the show, working the day of the event and being our event photographer.

Karen Cole-Hazel, Shari Weiser & Sean Reynolds for donating their time to help prepare for the show and working the day of the event.

Paul Miller for so generously donating one of his stunning, original paintings to use in an auction to raise funds for our program.

Music Medicine Love for providing soothing sounds for our guests.
Jazz Roots for sharing their talent and creating a jazz club atmosphere!
